2016 Petite Sirah ***SALE*** (While Supplies Last)
Petite Sirah (or Durif) is relatively new to our vineyard, considering our oldest vines are almost 30 years old! Don't let this fool you, this wine has been a knockout from the very beginning. Our 2009 vintage won a silver medal at the largest international competition in North America (Fingerlakes International) after only two weeks in the bottle, and it has consistently won awards year after year! Typically jammy, this wine can range from plum to blueberry, but will always carry a spicy finish. Also usually higher in tannins, this wine will age very well. A full and muscular wine, rich and jammy with undertones of blueberries and blackberries as well as plum. Rich vanilla gives way to a subtle hint of pepper in a smooth lingering finish. Aged in French Oak.
Did you know?Petite Sirah is not just a more “petite” version of Syrah (or Shiraz), it’s a distinct grape variety. Petite Sirah is the offspring of Syrah and Peloursin. If you’ve never heard of Peloursin, that’s understandable: it’s nearly extinct, found just a few places in the French-Alps.
